About CalmMe ABA

Unique Guidelines for ABA Therapy

01

Tailor-made, Individualised

We understand that every child and family is unique, and we are committed to creating personalized training programs that reflect their specific needs, school environment, and community. This tailored approach enhances your child's ability to adapt and thrive in their individual surroundings.

02

Tailor-made programs

We start training at each child's individual level, prioritizing foundational skills over simply chasing milestone scores. Our focus is on "Learning to Learn," which means we enhance essential abilities like compliance, attention, quick responses, motivation to learn, and observation skills. Our ultimate goal is to empower your child to learn independently in typical group settings.

03

Comprehensive assessment

We carefully select the right assessment tools for your child to ensure their unique needs are met.

  • Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) is tailored for children facing behavioural challenges, helping us understand and address their specific needs effectively.

  • Verbal Behaviour Assessment (VB-MAPP) is a standardized skills assessment designed to prepare children for success in mainstream learning environments.

  • Essential for Living (EFL) assessment helps set goals for essential life skills, such as communication and self-care, and is particularly suited for children with moderate to significant needs.

04

Progressive progress

We establish clear learning objectives and mastery criteria to ensure that your child has a solid understanding of each skill before we increase difficulty or adjust goals. This approach helps build a strong foundation for their continued growth and success.

Meanwhile, we won't hold back your child's progress with repetitive trials. We will advance targets and move forward as soon as your child meets the mastery criteria, focusing on their individual progress rather than a set timeline.

05

Positive social reinforcement

Many children with autism may show limited interest in social interactions. At CalmMe ABA, we prioritize fostering interaction and engagement between our behaviour therapists and children. Our therapists create enjoyable play experiences that encourage children to seek praise and social play as reinforcement over tangible item e.g. iPad or snacks. This approach helps cultivate strong learning motivation and enhances social interest.

06

Continuous evaluation

We continuously monitor training progress using data collected from each session. If a child struggles with a particular task for an extended period, our BCBA program director will promptly make necessary adjustments. They will review teaching methods with the therapist to identify more accessible support strategies tailored to the child’s needs.

07

Hands on demonstration

In our one-on-one parent training sessions, the BCBA program director will guide parents through the process, working alongside them to support their child’s learning.

These tailored sessions are designed to empower parents to teach their own child effectively, helping them set personalized learning goals and discover strategies that best fit their family's unique needs.

08

Family support

Each family member may have different perspectives on parenting. For instance, a mother might seek guidance from the BCBA on helping her child eat independently, while other household members may have varying opinions. The BCBA will offer step-by-step guidance to support the mother and help the entire family understand the child's goal of independence.

Meanwhile, we will teach the child how to adapt to different interaction styles among family members. This approach helps the child adapt to changes rather than being consistently treated differently or labeled by the outside world. By fostering flexibility and understanding, we aim to empower the child to navigate various social situations with confidence.

09

General consultation

We maintain contact and collaborate with other professional training groups to gain a comprehensive understanding of the child's behaviour, emotions, and learning challenges outside the home session. This collaboration helps us break down tasks effectively in ABA one-on-one sessions. By sharing the child's behaviour management plan with other professionals, we ensure that the skills learned in ABA training can be applied across different environments, reinforcing consistent progress.

10

Easy access

We hold regular meetings with parents to discuss learning progress and establish training goals. To strengthen the connection between the entire therapeutic team and parents, we encourage ongoing communication. Parents can easily stay in touch with the BCBA program director and ABA therapist via WhatsApp group to exchange information and receive promptly updates on their child's progress.

11

Adhering to ethics

We strictly adhere to ethical standards and professionalism, ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of our clients are protected at all times. The ethical responsibilities and scope of authority for our professional services are guided by the standards set by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB). For more information, please refer to the The Ethics Code for Behaviour Analysts (2022) at www.bacb.com.

12

Open & flexible

We are open and flexible in our approach. Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) primarily uses data to scientifically manipulate environmental factors and behaviour outcomes, making it applicable to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

We encourage you to share your concerns and goals with us. Our team will professionally analyze the nature of the issues and provide tailored solutions to help you achieve your objectives.
